Holiday Wish List

by Penny on December 13, 2012

We don’t do a lot of holiday gift buying in my neck of the woods. That doesn’t stop me from making wish lists, or shopping for myself :-) These suggestions are a combination of things I want and things I think others would love.

*** I wrote this out the other night but I am too lazy to upload the images of all the beautiful things. Sorry! ***

Homewares from Up In The Air Somewhere

My current obsession. Susan Dwyer is an insanely talented artist (and artisan!) who creates ceramic and papier-mâché bowls, vases and other vessels for the home. She also designed the amazing chevron tray that was all over Pinterest last year, which I ordered for myself. Merry Christmas to me! My favorites are her little spoon and well and double silo vase. Pair the spoon and well with some high quality fleur de sel–a perfect gift for a foodie who also loves clean design.

iPhone case from Pencil Shavings Studio

It takes a very special design for me to fall in love with an iPhone cover, and I am totally obsessed with these Rothko-esque designs from Pencil Shavings Studio. The colors are perfect, lush without being garish. I need one.

Pantone Reference Library

I want this so damn hard I can barely find the words. I am waiting to see how my first craft fair goes and what my first royalty statement from Oopsy Daisy looks like. If even a small amount of money starts flowing from Halfpence Design, I am buying this as soon as Todd does all of his grown-up California tax stuff to make the business legit and I can write it off. Pantone also offers a trade in discount, so I can save $150.

Catbird Threadbare Ring

If I were to get married, I’d be perfectly happy with this 50-dollar ring (or, for more of a splurge, this one) and a very expensive party with a ton of amazing food. And maybe a stunning dress. And a year-long honeymoon.

Marc Johns Prints

Oh man, I love Marc Johns. Every one of his prints makes me laugh or smile. There’s one for everyone.

Acne Oversized Linen Tee

Todd left a bag of luggage on a train in Italy and among the lost items was an Acne linen tank that I was in LOVE with. It needs replacing.

Everlane Cashmere Stole

Have you heard of Everlane? If not, head over and check out their site. They sell luxury basics without the insane markups and manufacture in the US. I’ve heard tons of praise for their $35 canvas tote. Perfect gifts!

Faux Fur Throw from RH

I actually ordered this, but I also dumped 100s of free swatches in my basket (I use them at work) which I think pissed them off, so they canceled my order. I still want one, because…why not?

Waxed Canvas Lunch Tote

I am only somewhat eco-conscious and I always forget to bring my lunch to work. But I still want this great tote from Artifact Bags.

Soire Thong Undies

Another victim of the Lost Bag of 2012, just about all of my Cosabella underwear. Which, unfortunately, are expensive. I buy these because they last forever. Now I have three left, and I am going commando far too often for wintertime.

Accessories from Gap

Gap is one of those stores that I rarely pop into but when I do I always find gems. I live in skinnies from their outlet and they have the best bargain ballerina flats. At the moment, I am eyeing their leopard oxfords (TO DIE), wide-brim fedora and chartreuse leather tote.

Book Rest House Lamp

Holy crap how great is this lamp from Rockett St. George? I’ve been hunting for the perfect bed lamp–we have an Ikea that is too bright and at the moment are using Tate’s egg lamp, which doesn’t give off enough light for reading. This lamp is so clever and well-designed. I recommend you check out their site, they have some gorgeous lighting fixtures.

Twist Head Wrap from Yes Jess

I often wear my hair up and this seems like a nice option for keeping my ears warm when it’s cold out!

Yoko Tee from Zara & Planet Tee from Need Supply

Because Yoko is awesome. So are planets.

Creative + Curious Pennant from Uppercase Mag

I am having to fight my little fingers not to buy this right now for Tate.

Tube of 60 Colored Pencils from Muji

Drawing aids make the best gifts!

Custom BFF Print Set

Totally sending these sets from Flapperdoodle to my best friends, especially because they have all scattered afar….Nashville! Baltimore! New York City! Phoenix! Come baaaaaack…..

Mini Bowl Set from Wind & Willow Home

These dip-dyed wooden bowls come in a gorgeous palette and are perfect for cooks like myself who are obsessive about mis-en-place (I always feel like a douche when I say that).

Botanical Prints by Kari Herer

Kari’s art is some of my favorite from the bottomless treasure trove of Etsy (and I look at a lot of art on Etsy). It’s so unique, multi-media that is elegant, lush, rich palettes, great subject matter. These are definitely on my list of things I want to buy for myself, but I’d love to give them as gifts, too.
