A handful of celebs wearing the pant of the season.
Everyone and their grandmother are lusting over the “it” pant of the season, J Brand’s Houlihan. The pant, which is clearly inspired by Balmain (if you have $1500 to spare, you can add those to your spring shopping list) is a skinny twill with cargo detailing and zipper closures at the ankles.

They’re cute; but, in my opinion, not worth hundreds of dollars ($240 to $450, depending on the fabrication and/or retailer). Therefore, in the interest of budget-conscious shoppers everywhere, I hunted down some more affordable alternatives.

You can take a pair into a seamstress to be altered–tighten up the leg, add zippers–if you want something that more closely resembles the J Brand style. Personally, I am kind of loving the Hot Topic pant….for 30 bucks.
- Victoria’s Secret Skinny Stretch Cargo Pant, $30
- Hot Topic Tripp Mechanic Skinny Pant, $30
- Express Skinny Knit Cargo Pant, $60
- Joie Mondrain Skinny Pant, $75 (size 8 only)
- Topshop Skinny Biker Trouser, $80
- Lucky Brand Skinny Cargo Pant, $80
- Rachel Roy Cargo Pant, $100
- Chelsea & Violet Skinny Cargo Pant, $118
- Taverniti So Jean, $125

you know, I tried on this style at the Barneys Outlet a few months ago (think they were was Rag & Bone) and they were way too long so looked awful on me- however, now I know how they are supposed to fit; I’m buying the lucky brand ones, they are an additional 20% off too :)
I’ve been hearing about these pants everywhere it seems, and while I think they are cute on most of the celebs I’ve seen wearing them, I know they’d look horrible on me and probably most people. I think this may be one fashion trend I’m going to skip. However, if I do decide to embrace this trend, I’ll definitely be opting for on the alternatives above!
I will give this trend a pass, and I love my skinny jeans, leggings and (yeah) jeggings. Skinny twill with cargo just screams NO to me and to my hips. I don’t even think it looks good on the celebs featured above (it looks good on the models but they’re, you know models).
