I am very excited to announce my next giveaway partner, Florida-based artist Casey O’Connell. Casey’s permanent work can be seen at San Francisco’s Hotel des Arts; her painted room received a great review from the New York Times a few years back, resulting in a growing following and some amazing opportunities, including a solo show at Google’s campus.
Room 405 at the Hotel des Arts, featuring art by Casey O’Connell.
This summer, Casey’s work will be featured in the July issue of New American Paintings. She will also be showing at San Francisco’s 5 Claude Lane Gallery in August; I am hoping I can get into the city to see some of her new paintings and meet her! Her originals are acrylic and oil stain on wood panels; the giveaway winner will receive a wall graphic print (more on this below).
I encourage you to read more about Casey, as she’s an amazingly sweet person and clearly a great talent:
- 2008 Josh Spear interview.
- O’Connell featured by LTL.
- 2010 Drift Magazine profile.
- O’Connell at the Hotel des Arts.
Top: New Year’s Eve. Middle (left to right): This Never Happened, Priceless and Stupid, Fat, Liar. Bottom: I Hate Musicals.
The Giveaway
The winner of the giveaway may choose from five available prints offered by Casey’s partner LTL, who specialize in wall graphics (you can read more about their products here). Casey has generously offered the winner their chosen print in any size–LTL offers prints from 8 inches to 7 feet. You may also request a custom size to fit your space.
Casey was also kind enough to offer me a print and I am choosing You Can Take the Girl Out of the Swamp But You Can’t Take the Swamp Out of the Girl. I think it will look great in our new office space and I can’t wait to share it with you once we finish our remodeling.
To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment, making sure to note your favorite piece (choose from those shown below). Don’t worry, you can always change your mind if you win!

The giveaway will end at 11:59pm on Sunday, June 13th.
Good luck!

Definetly the “When freckles collide”, it’s just so so romantic. I can’t explain, but I just identify with it, the way the bodies are positioned, the way the man is touching the woman’s face. Lovely prints. Thanks for sharing Penny.
Love number 4.
Deep Down is so lovely for a girl who has spent her whole life on the coast.

Having just celebrated my 2 year wedding anniversary, I love “when freckles collide.”

They’re all amazing, but I think #3 might just be my favorite.
I’d love to choose my favorite picture, but my computer won’t let me see them! I’d still like to win one, however!
But we don’t dance!
I love Deep Down as it reminds me of my honeymoon in Italy.
My husband and I spent so much time swimming, playing in the waves and kissing….
Her work is amazing! I like #3!!!
These are so cute and whimsical. i like bubble bobble.
Penny, I agree with you: you can’t take the girl out of the swamp is my favorite. They’re all gorgeous though. Her use of texture is amazing.
We have to pick just one favorite?! So hard… I’ll go with Bubble Bubble. I like that she’s looking down and you can’t really make out her expression. I imagine she’s listening to something like Kate Nash or Lykke Li. (Honestly though, they’re all amazing.)
My absolute favorite is Bubble Bobble, what a great artist!
And now I’ll have to check out her show in August! Great stuff. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but I think But We Don’t Dance is great.
The girl out of the swamp is so cool! glad to see she also has the prints for sale!
I’ll go with Deep Down! Makes me think of my boy…
I’m torn between “Deep Down” and “You Can Take the Girl Out of the Swamp but You Can’t Take The Swamp Out of the Girl.” Is it possible to have both? Hah. :D
Oh, but they’re all so fabulous!
I would love “But We Don’t Dance” — so romantic.
Its so hard to choose between 2,3,4 but I would have to say You can take the Girl out of the swamp, but you cant take the swamp out of the girl.
Great artist!
Such bold colors. “Bubble bubble” is delightfully cheerful!
I loooove When Freckles Collide. Thank you for introducing us to this amazing artist!
Bubble bubble is so cool! Those colors look so fantastic with that gold/yellow background.
“But We Don’t Dance” is absolutely stunning. Awesome artist!
I really like Deep Down but they are all excellent.
Oh it’s so hard to choose between When Freckles Collide and Deep Down! I think it’s Deep Down. The bubbles are so sweet.
I love ‘Bubble Bobble.’
I love, love, love Deep Down because it reminds me of me and my boi. (I am the one with the long hair!) Even if I don’t win, we will be looking at this art to decorate our loft!
Bubble Bobble or But We Don’t Dance.
I think my original comment got eaten, so I will try again.
I really like Bubble Bobble. The colors and composition are amazing. Mr.Kat & I are looking to move to a new city, and I would love to have a new piece of art to hang in our new living room!
My fiancee and I believe that #2 would make an excellent wedding gift. We are getting married June 27th. Hint Hint.
#4 — beautiful!
