Happy holiday weekend! I hope most of you are fortunate enough to get this weekend off and have something fun or relaxing planned :-) I had the single worst work week of my life. I wish I could share some details, but it will have to wait. Needless to say, I am 100% ready for the weekend, and we have quite a bit planned:
- A belated birthday dinner with Todd’s parents tonight. I can’t wait until I can drink wine again…
- Major kitchen remodel shopping. We’re heading to Ikea to buy our new cabinetry and a few appliances. We’ve decided on white shaker-style cabinets. Last weekend we ventured to the Sears outlet and majorly splurged on a fridge that I am so in love with. I never knew I could fall in love with an appliance.
- Paint research, photographing furniture we have to sell and more design scheming for the halfpence’s room and office.
- Movie night! The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is playing at Tower theater and we’re super excited to see it.
- Cooking. I want to cook up some yummy stuff this weekend but I haven’t decided on what quite yet.
- Blog photography. I’ve been meaning to do a how-to post on Veronica Lake waves, so if I can get around to it I will take photographs for a tutorial.
- Work. Freelance, that is. My friend Sara sent me the photography for her fall line, which I can’t wait to show you, so I need to get started on the F/W 2010 lookbook.
And….much more, I am sure! What do you have planned for the weekend? Here are some ideas…
This long holiday weekend, why don’t you…

Host a colossal croquet match in the desert? Very Alice & Wonderland. With bud and naked ladies. { burning man photo gallery via curbly }

Use soda cans instead of velcro rollers? And, while you’re at it, tie a black stain ribbon around your neck? { via lace & tea }

Unleash your 6-year-old artist self and buy some dry-erase crayons? { via minor details }

Or, make your own crayons? That you can eat! { via luxirare }

Listen to your favorite George Harrison songs? { via nerd boyfriend }

Cook up some super in-season artichokes? Recipes via the link! { via apartment therapy }
Also, for those of you who follow Joanna over at A Cup of Jo, she gave birth to a little boy on Tuesday! I am a now a tad obsessive about other pregnant bloggers, when they disappear from posting I assume they went into labor. And, she did!
Have fun and be safe this weekend!

Food to make, that I have made recently, from the beautifully photographed Smitten Kitchen blog…the asparagus hash (I think you posted about it on here) and the rustic rhubarb tarts that have a cornmeal-based crust. I used strawberries instead of rhubarb (couldn’t find any fresh enough) and served a la mode with Haagen Daaz “5″ Vanilla ice cream–heavenly. If the weather isn’t great, both would be lovely.
“Listen To Your Favorite George Harrison Songs”.
I think I do this about everyday as it is. Although it still makes me sad that he is gone.
And I may or may not fantasize about his beautiful son while listening to certain songs…
I hope your weekend is better that your week!
And that photo of George is simply divine…
Please do the Veronica Lake tutorial, i love those waves. I hope you do them without hot rollers though because i lack those and I’m desperate for some understandable instructions.
ahhh yes! my junior high skater boy make out sesh was with josh ketchum. remember our little stint of hanging out with the skaters at lunch. haha! you and ryan dodd… ha! i thought josh was so dreamy back then… you know he never grew right? i saw him while visiting davis like ten years ago and he was still so tiny but had shaved his long pretty hair off. what a bummer.
I hope that you got to see “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” – I LOVED it. I wish they weren’t doing a re-make in English…there’s no way it will be as good as the original.
