Affordable Art { Sasha Barr }

by Penny on May 12, 2010

I have a bit of an obsession with affordable prints, and the web provides a plethora of artists selling their wares. Each time I discover a new artist I love, I devour their offerings and bookmark their sites for future reference (or purchase), and if they are super amazing, I share them with you!

Such is the case with Sasha Barr, a Seattle-based illustrator I was introduced to via one of my favorite blogs. He does a lot of illustration work for bands, and offers quite a few prints for sale on his website. I bought the Peace Please print (down below) for the HP’s room but I am also loving the Imagination print, shown directly below.

Barr also collaborates with Meagan Claire Hall, creating prints, pillows and eco-friendly produce bags under the name Wonder-Thunder. A few years ago my previous hairdresser had a piece of art in his salon for sale that I loved. It was an over-sized (probably around 5 x 12 feet) canvas of a corn dog brandishing a pistol. It was bright, in a pop art style, and a deal (I thought) at $250. Todd called to buy it for me for my birthday after recalling how much I liked it, but it had sold. The bookish cob of corn below would be a welcome replacement for my long-lost corn dog piece. Paired with his watermelon cowboy friend, they’d make a cute team, no? These 6 x 12″ screen prints are 10 bucks a pop at W-T. The duo (Barr and Hall, not the corn and watermelon) also have a blog and Etsy shop.
