Hello, My Name Is Penny, And I’m Helpless { Hair Hell }

I know I’ve asked you all for opinions on my hair before, but I’m at it again. I’m not sure what renders me completely helpless when it comes to hair, but I can never make up my mind. Ever.

So….help. Please.

My hair is fine, but I have a shitload of it. It’s naturally medium to dark brown with auburn highlights. I dislike red (warm) highlights, though, so I usually ask for something more ashy….although it doesn’t matter, it always looks red in the sun.

At the moment I have some major roots, although you can’t tell from the photos above. I have long bangs that are growing out, and my hair is slightly layered. I like the option of letting it air-dry, so I don’t want any style that’s too fussy.

My face is rooooouuuuuuund, I have full cheeks, a rather substantial nose and deep-set hazel eyes. And, as you all know, I am pregnant and growing exponentially.

In the past I’ve really loved blunt, shaggy, long bangs. I am considering pairing them with a bob (like Klum) that I can wear clean or messy (like Chung). For color, I’d love to go either deeper with highlights (Cruz) or lighter with some blonde that pops (Lindvall).

I really don’t know what to do, so I need you all to decide for me. I have a hair appointment next weekend.

Please share any and all ideas of what you think might work or look cute :-)

oooh, what about an inch or two longer than Heidi Klum’s bob, but a bit shaggier, with some layers and sideswept bangs?

That is if your hair will behave–I think my hair’s just like yours, but blonde–thick, fine, and very straight. Any kind of layers other than very long ones just don’t work for me.

I love the color of your hair now!

color- cruz
cut- heidi
bangs- Kate moss
parted on the side.
I love the thick blunt cut bangs and think they would look cute on you. also do the cut a tiny bit longer than Heidi’s…..
good luck.
I have thick frizzy use to be curly hair. Its so hard to get a cut that is easy to take care of and you’re not in front of the mirror all day blow drying and fussing.
good luck

As someone with frizzy, curly, unruly hair that can take on a brassy red 10 seconds after being outside, I envy the hair you currently have…

I agree with the others about Klum’s long bob. I like the side-swept look.

The best hair cut I ever got was one that I discussed with the stylist. We simply talked it out before the cut. I didn’t go in with a flat out plan, just an idea. All I wanted was some sort of bang that worked with my cowlick. She could tell me what would work and what would not, what she would love to do v. what I would not tolerate.

The look suits my face shape (heart) and my lazyness. But, it’s still reasonable for the type of hair I have (superfine, lots of it, unflatteringly wavy). I ended up with sideswept bangs that just hit my cheek bones and long layers that hide the waviness. It’s perfect since I Often let my hair airdry and don’t style it unless I’m forced to.

So, I recommend taking all the images you like, knowing what it is you like about each of them, and showing the stylist when you arrive. They can take it, and their mad skill, from there. (I think the stylists have more fun this way, they get to be a bit creative and contribute to the look) :)

I had long hair during both of my pregnancies and chopped it off after both deliveries. Honestly, I wouldn’t do too much until after the baby is born. Once your have a little one you’ll be looking for some sort of change (as to be quite frank) you feel a little dumpy post delivery plus your routine and schedule/am priorities will change. :) Just my two sense. Although I think a just past the shoulder, layered look would be cute and easy to maintain.

I had longer hair than you and last week, I had it all chopped off into a Heidi style bob. I can’t believe how freeing it is. It’s super easy to style and you can make it look really classic and sleek, or make it all tossled and sexy.

I recently cut my hair to a really cute shaggy bob- shorter in the back a bit longer in the front and I’ve had super blunt bangs for a couple of years. I really like it, but my hair also super wavy and I now (in theory) have to straighten and blow dry it every day so it’s more high maintenance than I’m used to. BUT if your hair is pretty straight, I’d say it would be a really cute look for you. I’ll try to find some pics of it and email them to you…. I always love shorter hair on myself and others. Heidi’s bob would be super sexy on you, maybe with some longer bangs.

Also, I agree with what Bri said. If you really love and trust your stylist, I say go in and say, I don’t know what to do, I’m going to be a mom soon, I need something low maintenance and cute and fun and sexy. HELP! Chances are they’ll know exactly what to do.

Don’t forget to post pics of what you end up doing!
