I was finally able to listen to Charlotte Gainsbourg’s new album, IRM, in its entirety and it’s fabulous. You can sense the Beck influence, but not overly so, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was afraid the album would sound like a Beck LP with Charlotte lending vocals, but it definitely feels like her. They have only made a video for “Heaven Can Wait,” certainly not my favorite song on the album. Below are two of my favorites, “Trick Pony” performed live on Letterman (she’s quite good live!) and the title track, which feels very cool and psychedelic.
Enjoy, and happy weekend!

Good call! I’ve been crushing on Me and Jane Doe for a couple of weeks now, but I haven’t gotten around to listening to any of the other yet. I’ll have to check them out.

This, however, was my Friday obsession, and it will probably continue to be for awhile:

Have a great weekend, all!
AHH, I love that song too, it sounds like a Grey’s Anatomy song :-)
Weeee, new Goldfrapp, I love them!
I heard an interview with her on NPR and she said the album was inspired by her skiing accident a couple of years ago. The beat in IRM definitely has that thudding MRI sound to it.
