Me and the mister have been getting into making our own yogurt lately when his mom gave us a housewarming gift of a yogurt maker and tons of starter packets. It's really economical if you consume a lot of yogurt, which now we do. It's amazing how much you can use it to substitute for cream, milk, buttermilk, sour cream, etc. when cooking and baking or freezing for dessert, and so on). In the mornings I throw it in the blender with whatever we've got in the kitchen, usually some combination of honey, banana, avocado or mango and ice or maybe milk. We have a juicer too so when I have the motivation I add fruit or veggie juice (spinach, yay Melissa!; or carrot, apple, ginger, celery, orange, again whatever happens to be in the kitchen.)

I have fallen in love with Alton Brown's smoothie: grape juice, soy milk (skim for me), blueberries, strawberries, banana, and peaches. It's really, really good.

This might sound odd, but I put spinach in my smoothies. You can't taste it at all. It's supposed to give you great skin.

I neeeed a blender. I wish I could make smoothies, but I haven't had a blender in over a year now. Ugh. I love the basics, too. Strawberries or blueberries, yogurt, oj...and I usually would throw in some flaxseed or brewer's yeast for a little extra oomph. Getting a blender is definitely on my to-do list.

God that looks delicious. I'm like you, very basic. I go with orange juice, banana, occasionally some non fat yogurt if I don't have banana and need something to help thicken it and either strawberries or some kind of frozen mixed berry blend. Every now and then I'll throw some pineapple in with my strawberries, which is very tasty.

I am super simple with my smoothies as I don't like too many fruits because I find them too sweet (I have a horrible sweet tooth). At Jamba Juice they have the Orange Dream Machine which basically tastes like a 50/50 bar so really anywhere I go I get all orange smoothies. I'm weird I know
