Why Don’t You…?

Fashion week is well on its way. Don’t miss any of your favorite designers’ shows. You can find a complete A/W 2010 calendar here. On my must-view list: Vena Cava, Ports 1961, Jen Kao and Rachel Comey showed yesterday. Cynthia Steffe, Yigal AzrouĆ«l, Ruffian, Jason Wu, Rag & Bone and Doo.Ri are showing today. Over the weekend and into next week, I will keep my eye on United Bamboo, Peter Som, Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, Behnaz Sarafpour, Thakoon, Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, The Row, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Anna Sui and Proenza Schouler. Which shows are you looking forward to?

Also, check out this list of shows live-streaming on the web.

Now, this weekend, why don’t you…

What do you have penciled in for the weekend? I am signing off for the day. I have a hair appointment this morning, followed by my first prenatal visit! Afterward I have lunch planned with my mom, and then Todd and I have a dinner date with my friend Hana and her boyfriend Jonathan at Ad Hoc in Yountville. They are in from NYC (care of Philly) and we’re all super excited to try the restaurant.

As for Saturday and Sunday, I plan on taking it easy…lots of Pilates, maybe some cooking/baking, taking some photography for my new shop (more on that later), writing a AMQ memorial post and watching 80’s movies (a recent craving).

Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day weekend! And for those of you in the northeast, stay safe and warm!

And don’t forget, the deadline to enter the City of Joy giveaway is this Sunday night.

xo

I will certainly join you in the first 3 items on your list. If I have time I’ll give the English muffins a try.

Our duvet cover actually needs a washing as well. Looks like it’s a good Saturday to strip the bed and flip the mattress as well.

Enjoy your weekend!

I heard about Ad Hoc on NPR a couple of months ago. It sounds great. Also, the chef submitted his book, “Ad Hoc at Home” to my company’s (I work for 2 large groups of professional chefs) annual cookbook awards and so far it’s doing really well with the judges. It’s a beast of a book. After the awards are over, I can get any of the books for over 50% off. If you’re interested, just let me know and I can save a copy for you.

Laura, that’s so sweet! I actually got the cookbook for Christmas and I LOVE it. But, if one is available, please let me know and I will purchase it for a giveaway.

Lucky you, having access to books :-)

RODARTE rodarte rodarte. :)

And love the Ace Love :) If I didn’t live down the street from it (woohoo, new apt!) I’d want to stay there.

Per Lucien’s Advice, I plan on doing #2,3, and 4 this weekend :)

Have fun at your prenatal appt!

Sorry, Penny, but drinking chocolate milk and playing with my friends sounds way better than washing my duvet! ;)

Love Ad Hoc. Last time we were there we actually sat next to Thomas Kellar and his family. Have fun.

I’ll definitely pull one aside for you if I can!

Oh I am so snuggling in and making English muffins (what is the difference between them and crumpets? I am doing all kinds of Anglo-American translation these days) as soon as I can.

JD, I love love love crumpets! My friend and I became obsessed with crumpets and clotted cream while in London. The difference? Crumpets are spongy, while English muffins are more like bread…I think :-)

Still so jealous you’re living in London….

My weekend is unfortunately spent in the office at my internship and also studying for law school exams next week. But next weekend I have many plans to do lots of baking projects, cocktail hours (sorry – don’t mean to rub in the alcohol thing!) with my classmates to celebrate this term ending, hours spent with the pile of magazine subscriptions that I have been trying to ignore while studying, and catching up on all the runway goodness going on right now! There will likely be some laundry in there, too, so maybe I take your advice and toss my duvet cover in there along with everything else.

Penny,

Love your blog. Our conversation inspired me to write something for my blog (I’ll email it to you). Fashion Week is like a drug! I’m saving and not shopping right now but it’s so fun to watch. Maybe I’ll get some ideas and shop my closet! Happy Love Day.
