If you are looking for less expensive maternity - H&M has a great line. I bought mine in the UK but the SF store might carry it. Also, can be somewhat pricey depending on what you are looking for but Top Shop has great jeans. Oh, and Micheal Star's T's, they are super long and fit nicely over baby bellies. Okay, put in my pregnancy style 2 sense. :)

i think the jegging term doesn't make any sense in most cases. yes, you could call those jeans-printed things jeggings, or the ones without pockets and zippers, but the ones like yours are just jeans and that's it. i'm sorry for the rant but it drives me crazy.

get a properly sized BellaBand http://www.ingridandisabel.com/ and you'll be able to wear "most" of your pants throughout your pregnancy. i say "most" because it really depends on the rise and inseam rather than the waist size. not only will your belly expand, your hips (and as a result, your butt) will get wider as well. this isn't "fat" and it'll totally look proportionate but take a measure now and again at 20 and 30 weeks and you'll see what i mean. it's an expansion of the pelvic structure to allow for baby to come out more easily.

maternity clothing is abysmal not to mention expensive considering the wear you get out of it. for work, i've invested in a handful of empire waist jersey knit dresses that i wear with or without leggings ( this $27 pair of gap maternity leggings, bought in my pre-baby size, have lasted my entire pregnancy with multiple washes/dries. they are super soft and have kept their color wonderfully http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=636958012&tid=gofr1r ). i've also bought about 4 pairs of black yoga pants that i can get away with wearing to work but also wear on weekends. i haven't had to invest in a lot of tops because i have a ton of long layering tees and tanks that cover the paunch.

Penny, your problem is that you are too stylish. The ones I have are not nearly as nice looking as these. I am just undiscerning. My own mother is like, why don't you buy a decent pair of pants and stop wearing other people's cast offs? There is no pleasing them.

Out of a fear that this trend is going away before the end of 2010, and because I have been trying unsuccessfully to gain 10 pounds for the last 8 months (and will therefore hopefully wear a larger sized pant), I just couldn't spend a bundle on a pair, but totally wanted one, so I bought a pair of super low quality, super tight stretchy jeans at a thrift shop for like a dollar fifty. They do for my purposes quite well. I could never get away with wearing something like that at work so I figured cheap was ok for dark bars or whatever. I might check out the H and M ones, though, thanks for the tip Marissa, because I am finding myself wearing my jeggings way more than I thought!

Yours, however, are darling!

Nordstrom carries a brand called "Jolt" in their juniors department -- they're about $40 -- I have a couple pairs of them and I love 'em! I haven't been able to justify spending upwards of $100 on a pair of leggings, but looking at the ones you just posted, that may have just changed.

Try the Citizens of Humanity version - I bought several pairs and love them. Got them at Nordi's as well. In response to Robin - yes, buy a size down in the legging version as they are extra stretchy. I usually wear a 25 in all jeans and even though thought the 24 would be way too small they fit perfectly. Penny, you are so darn cute! Can't wait to see how you outfit your what will most definitely be a basketball belly. :)
