Big news for those of you who are not aware…I’ve got an itty-bitty halfpence brewing in my belly!
I am about 7 and a half weeks along, which means I have a kidney bean-sized alien fetus residing in my uterus. Weird.
A few weeks ago Todd and I were in a state of limbo as my first ultrasound showed a gestational sac of 5 weeks but no baby (or zygote…whatever they’re called at that stage). My doctor told me that it was either too early to see anything or I had miscarried; there was a 50/50 chance. After some blood work to check my hormone levels, we went in for a second ultrasound this past week and, there it was. A tiny clump of cells with a rapidly beating speck of a heart, just over 7 weeks old. Apparently it had been hiding during my previous ultrasound, my doctor said she’d never seen that happen in her 20 years. I think the halfpence wasn’t quite ready to show its fins yet.
So, there it is, lovelies. We’re having a baby :-)

That’s right Anna, Sept 14th! 5 days after we were supposed to fly off to Europe :-( A good month to be born! Too bad I’ll be heavily pregnant in the heat.
