Aid Recovery In Haiti

by Penny on January 13, 2010

Thousands are believed to have died as a result of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti yesterday. Want to help? Here’s how.

  • Donate money to Partners In Health.
  • Donate via the American Red Cross. Or, text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 directly to Haiti relief.
  • Donate through the WFP
  • You can also give help directly to children by donating through UNICEF, who has set up a donation page specifically for this disaster.
  • Save The Children’s offices in PAP were destroyed. You can donate through the organization here.
  • Donate through Oxfam.
  • Donate through the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.

Please note, the organizations I have provided have no religious affiliations.

Thanks for posting these. And thanks for noting that these organizations aren’t religiously affiliated; Good to know.

Doctors without Borders hospitals were destroyed, and many workers are missing, maybe dead. They are sending in more staff and inflatable surgery units as fast as equipment and money allow. As far as I’m aware, they are not religiously affiliated, either.

I cannot believe the amount of devastation. I was listening to the BBC World News and while they were walking around and observing a woman discovered someone she knew who had been killed (it was not clear how she knew the person). Her cries and wailing made me burst into tears. But I forced myself to listen to it. Now it’s burned into my brain.

Thanks Kari for the list. Just a reminder to your readers. The need for
aid will ongoing. Maybe your readers could give a donation in memory
their friends special events, like birthdays, weddings or other special
events. Many of all the things we need.
