I was at work late last night (I hate 12 hour days) and found myself craving a good doodle on the train ride home. I scrounged up a piece of scratch paper (I always carry pens) and while balancing my cup of wine, went at it.
People tend to have a doodling MO. Mine is sketching clothes, peppered with lyrics from songs I am listening to (last night it was a Miss Kittin Muzik mix), little tornadoes and fan-looking things.
What’s yours?

I always doodle shapes, mainly circles, squares and triangles. I also doodle little tornado things and I write my name in a bunch of different ways.
wait, can we go into more about the “wine on the train” thing? did i read that right? that sounds awesome.
but yah, i’ve been doodling the same flowers and vines since about freshman year in high school.
Vines with flowers, singing my name twice on itself and shading in the difference, little houses, sometimes aquariums with little goldfish and aquatic plants if I’m in a math class.
I’m not much for drawing, I’m more of a scribbler of words, lists, bits of stories. I always have a little notebook on hand for scratching things down…
Boxes and squares. It can get pretty intricate and OCD looking. Also when stuck for a period of time with a pen and paper I like to see if I can write out all 50 states. I usually get like 47 of them and then have to slog around in my memory for the last few.
I usually draw the profile of a face and if I’m sitting in class, I draw my left hand or the person sitting in front of me. I’m also big on triangles.
I draw cubes and then continue on to do 3-d-ish blocky patterns around it. Or I start to capture something in my immediate environment.
I am lame. Despite having quite a lot of drawing experience, I always doodle cats, dogs, flowers, and faces. The last doodle I made was during a meeting at work. I drew a cat saying “woof,” a cat saying “meow,” and a person saying “hello.” I would like to start doodling some different shit!
