Playing chess in Tahoe with Todd and his brother-in-law Andrew.
Who doesn’t love games? You can play them solo (Solitaire) in large groups (charades), they pair nicely with drinking and friends, you can play them any time of the year. Some are difficult (chess) and some are ridiculously easy (Twister), people of all ages can play and, well, they’re just fun.
Last night Todd and I had our friends Charley and Steve over for NYE. While I cooked the boys played Snatch (a word game that I suck at) and then Charley and I convinced the other two to play Life. Remember Life? So fun!
What are your favorite games?

LOVE games. My hubs’ fam is huge on games, and they always hunt for fun, new, obscure games to play over the holidays. Some of my recent favorites are Bohnanza, Ticket to Ride, The Game of Things, and Funglish.
I love Scrabble, especially playing with my mum, who was an English teacher long ago. My sister always whips both of us at Boggle, to the point where I wouldn’t play with her for a few years – my ego just couldn’t take it.
I actually fancied playing Boggle this Christmas, but socialising with friends took priority. I did manage one game of Scrabble – and my ma beat me, even though I got the ‘J’ and the ‘Q’!
Definitely Scrabble. Trivial pursuit. Monopoly. Guesstures (a charades game). Imaginiff with good friends. As far as card games, Spades is a favorite. I also recently played Connect4 for the first time in forever and it’s still really fun.
I love the classics — Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Scattergories. Taboo is a big nighttime favorite of my extended family when we’re on beach vacations and everyone’s been drinking since 9 am….but I have to say, my current favorite is Bananagrams. It’s like speed Scrabble, but better, and doesn’t require a long attention span. Best designed-for-children-but-owned-by-all-my-twentysomething-friends game ever!
I am loving all these new game recommendations!
Oh I love games. BF and I take boggle to a local dive bar and play for hours. At this point they know us so we don’t get weird looks. Recently we’ve started playing rummikub which is really fun.
We also play xbox, I know it’s not a traditional game but it’s still pretty fun. Nothing fancy just like, Tetris and simple games like that.
Scrabble, boggle, scattergories (omg I love scattergories), taboo, cranium, settlers of cattan, trivial pursuit.
Saw your post on Jezebel’s groupthink and thought I’d check your blog out! I love card games; my cousins, aunts and I used to spend summer’s playing cribbage when my grandmother was still alive. On the other side of the family we play a fast paced card game called Pounce which can get quite heated.
For board games, my faves are Cranium and Hoopla, as well as Apples to Apples, which was the main activity at my Halloween party.
I also love trivia games, and am a complete Jeopardy! nutcase.
