Hana and Kari at…..some club in NYC.
Todd and I just booked a long weekend to NYC, just around the time of my 30th birthday in October.
I have been watching the first Harry Potter and it’s so….comforting. When I lived in London in 2002 my friend Gene would let me borrow his laptop all the time and I think I watched this movie 15 times while I was there.
Oh, yeah……I’m also going to London in a year and a half. With my parents and Todd :-) It will be my parents’ first trip abroad and I super excited.
My number one stress reliever? Planning vacations.
Do you have any planned for the coming weeks, months, year?

That’s fantastic Penny! We’ll be going to England in about a year for my best friend’s wedding, but that will be the last vacation in a while due to our moving soon.
My two sisters and I will be going to Philly to visit our other sister and her husband toward the end of October. It’ll be a blast. Love that place! And my good friend and I have been planning a London trip for like 2 years now, but we’ll finally be going (fingers crossed) Spring 2010. Any suggestions on good UK hotels?
vacations are so great! I used to get really anxious about spending too much money, but now I just allow myself to totally enjoy them! we are going to europe at the end of the month, then san diego for a wedding in september, another wedding in new orleans this winter, then paris next summer. I think october is the best time to be in the city! have a great time :)
Good for you! We’re planning a NYC trip near Christmastime. We’ve been there twice before and it wasn’t cold enough for us (early spring/early fall) so this time it will be full on wintertime.
I’d love to hear about what you guys do while you’re there. I’ve always loved NYC and I love hearing about people’s trips and adventures.
How the hell do you afford to go to London? I was doing an expense report for one of our sales guys and prices are ridiculous over there! My bf is Irish and he really wants to go on a big Ireland trip. I know it’s not the same, but what can I expect price wise for a trip like that?
That’s awesome! I really love NYC in that time of the year. I’m supposed to go there in the first days of November, but I’m still not sure. I really want to go to SF or Chicago, but I also have a friend in Miami that I haven’t seen in a while. I’m still undecided (I usually take my vacation days in November). And there are years where my mother goes crazy and decides almost at the last minute that is absolutely necessary for us to spend Christmas in Rome, or Paris, so I’m waiting to see if this year is going to be one of those (crossing my fingers).
I’m glad you feel a little less stressed now that you have all this wonderful plans to look forward to. So jealous of your trip to London!!!!!
I love NYC…I grew up in CT before being transplanted to the West Coast junior year of high school, so I miss school shopping in NYC. I am going to Texas this month to see my two beautiful nieces (MacKenzie & Delaney) and Portland in October to run the Portland Marathon (although, I am always in Portland for some reason or another), but my real highlight…Barcelona in February to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of my 32nd birthday.
Incidentally, I try to take at least one long weekend out of town every month…such a good recharge, even if I don’t really do anything when I’m away.
Yay!! Planning vacations has been my salvation too. Still crossing my fingers for the beach next week and we are planning a delayed honeymoon since I never got one the first time around. I want to go to Mexico but Mr. R. wants a roadtrip thru the Rockies; I wish we could just take three weeks off and combine them. He is quitting his job around then so he has the time and I am the wet blanket. Why can’t work just let you take all the time you want if it is unpaid? Nothing is going to disappear if I don’t show up for 3 weeks. Grr.
Wait, who’s… Hana?
May, she’s a friend in New York.
Fun, fun, fun – I am jealous. If you need any tips on where to stay, eat, play in London just let me know. Nic and I have a lot of friends there still and they are pretty in tune. So just let me know!! Glad to hear these trips are lifting your spirits.
I wish I was planning a vacation. although I am planning to visit my friend in Alabama in about a month, she just moved there for a residency program and is lonely. and sweaty :)
Penny,
I always assumed your name was Penny… but if that’s you in that picture, is your real name Kari? Or, am I way off base here and that isn’t you at all…
Jesus…. sorry if I’m confusing
