I have a thing for DJs. Like, big time.
I’m not talking about the dirty electro types of DJs, although I like them as well; I’m talking about sample-heavy hip-hop DJs. I don’t know, it’s a thing. Buy me a few drinks and I will tell you about it.
Anyhow, DJ Shadow is a fellow UC Davis grad, he was a DJ for the school’s station (KDVS). Entroducing was totally groundbreaking and amazing, and it’s one of my favorite albums. This is a live performance of “Organ Donor,” and it’s intense and awesome. I wish I could have been there.

Wow! I’ve always had the live version of Organ Donor but I’ve never seen it performed! Sweet. I used to listen to DJ Shadow so much that I kind of got sick of it. Maybe I should break out that cd again…
That was amazing Penny. I have only recently started enjoying DJs, since a boy I have been hanging out with a bit is one. I have heard lots of music I wouldn’t normally listen to which is always a good thing I think. I really like Z-Trip and RJD2 (who’s song “A Beautiful Mine” is the theme for Mad Men).
Here’s some more live hip-hop type using samplers:
