Why hello there, lovelies!
As I mentioned last week, I have been working on a project to split my blogs into two focusing on very different topics. The old blog will continue to focus on finances, money and the economy, while this new blog, Penny Luxe, will focus on design, fashion, food, style and the little luxuries that make life wonderful.
This blog has been a long work in progress, and I am very proud with how it’s turned out – and I’ve managed to do it all on my own so far! I will, of course, continue to add features and improve the overall functionality of the site and, as always, I welcome your feedback.
Additional tidbits…
- I would love to introduce Penny Luxe’s first sponser, Tall Cow. Allison and Deanna make amazing hand printed cards, which I have previously featured on the blog. Look for a fabulous Tall Cow giveaway in the coming weeks, and check out the offering on their website.
- Community is luxury. Add Penny Luxe on Facebook and Twitter.
- Also, to ensure you receive blog updates, subscribe via RSS or email.
- Blog and shop links will be added soon.
- This would be an opportune time to ditch my boyfriend’s pseudonym. His real name is Todd, but you can still call me Penny!
Get started by revisiting some of my favorite posts from the past few months…

To learn more about my motivation behind kicking off the blog, I encourage you to quickly read the Meet Penny page. And, let’s kick things off appropriately in the comments – how do you define luxury?

For me, luxury is:
- Extra time in the day to lounge, take a bath, or paint my nails
- Haagen-Dazs ice cream…none of the the low-fat and/or chemical laden substitutes will suffice
- My monthly subscriptions to magazines and that moment when I just get them out of the wrapping that always makes me giddy
- An amazing home-cooked dinner and a great glass of red wine shared with my husband
Ohh yeah! I fell absolutely in love w/ the Tall Cow cards that you posted earlier. I like to buy cards just for the prints and then display them on my walls and the Tall Cow cards are def my taste. I’ve already bookmarked their site. Needless to say- can’t wait for the giveaway :)
You’re new blog looks so pretty! and you have a sponser!! I’m gonna click it right now. :)
Hooray for sponsorships! As for how I define luxury:
The perfect black t-shirt–well-tailored, in the perfect cotton, and at home either in casual or dressy situations;
Shopping for the freshest ingredients, preferably in my teeny neighborhood store or the local hippie market that boasts some fabulous bulk grains and produce;
Being able to travel somewhere exotic and stay put and truly enjoying where you are–even if it means you spend an afternoon watching a DVD in your hotel room because you just want to be with your traveling partner. :-)
luxury is anything i don’t need. that’s a whole lot of vague but it’s how i see it.
Excellent blog and design, Penny! You’ve done very well!
As for luxury, I say it’s being able to afford gasoline. That’s it! ;-)
Woah! Love the new blog. How can one blog encompass all that one finds interesting, wonderful and very important to share? This, is such a (beautiful) example. :)
Luxury is simple, beautiful and makes life more… more blissful. It stimulates the senses and makes days feel more special, all the time.
Example: A beautiful velvet chair that is incredibly comfortable and also situated at your desk or computer. No fuddy-duddy office chair for me. It’s a beautiful, tiffany inspired lamp found in a “free bin” on a street corner that lights up a room, on or off.
Okay, honestly, luxury is anything that can sound poetic and perfect. :) Basically.
Luxury for me is relaxing in the evening with my boyfriend with a large glass of wine and a good movie.
Congrats on the new blog!
A luxury to me is anything that I can’t do or obtain whenever I want.
Some things I find luxurious are:
a stack of foreign magazines;
sashimi;
staying in bed all day and watching a whole season of Mad Men or Big Love;
pine nuts;
and wearing my Marc Jacobs wellies to a music festival.
