Songs To Consider – Annie, Oh, Annie

by Penny on March 7, 2009

Alright, I know….I can go overboard with the song suggestions. But David and I are getting ready to go out to a party and we’re listening to Pandora. It went something like this…….listening to my Cat Stevens Pandora station, Neil Young’s Don’t Let It Get You Down comes on – I LOVE THAT SONG. Anyhow, David, being David, needs to know what the song is about, so he looks it up on Wikipedia. I am over his shoulder when I see that Annie Lennox covered the song. I adore Lennox. So much. I saw her open for Sting once and she FAR outshone him, she’s incredible. Anyhow, here are the videos of both her cover and a live version of Young’s original.

UPDATE – That was horrible writing, up there. But, I am tipsy, so I get a pass…..

Ok, you’ve hit a nerve with me.

He can be a hard sell –as popular as he is, not everyone likes his work.

I for one love his music.

Let’s just say I have permanent references to him with me at all times ;)

Awesome…

This so so strange, I was out with friends last night and we were talking about the Annie/Sting tour and my friends thought I was nuts when I said I preferred her set.

I love this song also, both versions

I saw this same concert, and when she finished her set, I was begging her to stay on stage!

“Here Comes the Rain again”, just her voice and the piano, was one of the highlights of my concert experiences, literally spine-tingling.
