F/W 2009 RTW Catch Up – Nina Ricci, Rick Owens, Balenciaga, Gucci & Balmain

by Penny on March 6, 2009

I’ve been trying to catch up with the fall shows as I stopped around the time that NY Fashion Week wrapped up. It’s tough following all of the shows when there’s so much else to do! I’ve decided to take them on in groups and choose a few looks from each collection.

Nina Ricci – Some beautiful burnt orange/plum looks and great separates, although I was underwhelmed by the evening-wear.

Rick Owens – Monochromatic black looks that transitioned into whites and the palest of blues and beiges.  Heavily layered with amazing pieces.

Balenciaga – Less futuristic and structured than seasons past; great shoes!

Gucci – Fantastic pantsuits (as always) and fun dresses.  The color palette was uninspiring, however.

Balmain – Sexy and bad-ass, but easy-going.  MUST OWN PANTS!

Penny I have a fashion question. I want to buy some black leggings, but nicer ones than like target or delia’s (previous places I have bought them). Any suggestions for slightly nicer than target leggings that aren’t crazy expensive?
